Coolant reservoirs are marked where to fill, usually about 2inches or so from the bottom is full. this allows for the thermal expansion of the coolant and subsequent radiator overflow. so when the coolant cools down it creates a vacuum and is sucked back into the radiator. Hot and cool lines? Need more information to answer this. Are you referring to the automatic transmission lines that can be connected to the radiator?

If you overfilled the coolant, it could put extra pressure on your system, so if you have any weak hoses, etc., it could cause a leak, but the most likely thing to happen is just that it will spill out from your reservoir tank.

The hot line is the line where coolant should be when the engine is "hot" - either when the vehicle is running or when you've just turned it off.

The cool line is the line where the coolant should be when the engine is not in use (after the car has been sitting for some period of time).
