Is it true that UK companies are offered subsidised Polish labour by the EU?

I have heard that the EU will pay all but a pound per hour for the first year. I admit though that I find this unbelieveable - does any one really know?

I have certainly not heard of this, we employ a lot of polish staff mainly through agencies but we certainly do not get help with paying their wages.
