I have had this problems before too. While I am working, I pop Ginseng and Emergen-C. Emergen-C is loaded with vitamins and minerals and boosts your immune system. Works for me and I have always been able to survive a 16-hour shift without a problem.

make sure those 3 hrs. sleep are as comfortable as possible
to get as much out of them as you can

set the alarm clock near by so you hear it

just in case you don't,
get someone to wake you

shower with mint-scented products

drink cold Coke

drink hot coffee

pace yourself during first part of shift
until it gets to the time
when you'd usually wake
--this helps your body ease into it's true wakeful state

I hope you don't do this too often. You might be able to do this once or twice a month, but you will burn yourself out quickly if done more.
