I think my daughter stopped liking to be swaddled at about a year. She would just kick and wiggle out of the swaddle.

My don liked the swaddling at first and then he started kicking the blankets off. He doesn't like blankets at all unless he is sleeping. My son was about 1 month or 2 months old when decided that he didn't like to be swaddled anymore.

We stopped swaddling my son at about four months because that's when he started squirming out of the swaddle and sleeping comfortably without it.
Don't worry about "shoulds" and always take your cues from the baby.

My 5-month old loves to be swaddled, but she is getting really strong and can break out of even the tighest swaddle. I figure she'll just break out of the swaddle immediately if she doesn't need it anymore.

you have just answered something thats been buging my family for six weeks..when my baby was born he was of low temperature so they swaddled him which is usually not done in english hospitals and he slept for six hours..which then they moaned at me beacause he slept for so long. when i brought him home i swaddled him before putting him in his crib and he has slept thro the night ever since.and i put this down to the fact that he was swaddled but no one believes it,,,,its supposed to be like being in the womb and it definately works with me cos i am getting my sleep and not grumpy or tired like some new mums i know.guess you can do it untill he cries cos he dont like it...or maybe he will carry on liking it,can just imagine a 19 yr old being swaddled tho lol

I only swaddled mine until 2 months - I just stopped; don't know why really. In the country my brother-in-law is from, Kergystahn, they do it until 12 months. Personal preference I guess.

My daughter never liked to be swaddled...every baby is different. I wish she would have then maybe she would have slept better through the night.

When he starts kicking and squarming out of it then he probably won't need to be swaddled anymore.

keep swaddling him. It won't hurt him. I'm sure it's more of a comfort thing for him.
