Greenland is the worlds largest Island

What is the world's largest island?
At 840,000 square miles (2,175,590 km2), Greenland is the world's largest island.

Although Australia also meets the definition of an island (a piece of land surrounded by water), it is large enough to be considered its own continent.

So, Australia is, by definition, also an island.

Greenland, Australia is a continent.

It's interesting to imagine that if the oceans were to slowly drain away, as the percentage of Earths surface covered by water dipped below 50%, we wouldn't be talking about which is the largest island, but which is the largest lake.

And then lakes would be islands of water?
