Symptoms? Runny nose, which leads to a sore throat from sniffling, random cough attacks, at least once or twice so far a headache behind my left eye.
BTW, Whiskey sounds great right about now :)

I'm in day 4 of my cold and pretty much gave up on medicine. Just sucking on cough drops occasionally. The problem I was experiencing was that I'd take something for the sneezing, runny nose, etc and it would end making me congested to the point where breathing was difficulty. So what I'm doing is popping cough drops (and vitamin C drops), drinking a hot bowl of soup every night, sleeping with breath right strips, and made my boyfriend stop on his way home from work last night to drop off popsicles for me. I'm feeling better this afternoon except for the occasional nagging cough.

There is this herbal tea called Gypsy Cold Care and I swear by it. If I even feel a hint of congestion or a sore throat coming on, I down a cup of that with lemon and honey and maybe another cup later in the day and I am usually feeling better.
Also homemade chicken soup is another good remedy for colds.

Don't ever take the sleeping pills route!!
1. They will damage your liver big time and you can get into serious health problems.
2. You will get hooked up on them and you won't be able to have a normal life any more if you don't take your pills everyday.
The sleeping pills industry is damaging our health by capitalizing on our ignorance, and by distracting people from effective and natural ways to deal with this problem. I had been taking prescription sleep medications [Ambien] for over 5 years. It stopped working and I simply took more. Still did not work. Nights were very difficult - medication put me to sleep but I would wake up after 2–3 hours with a strong sympathetic response (fast pulse, pounding heartbeat, wide awake alert). It was a very difficult cycle to break. I was really in bad shape due to lack of sleep.
After years of struggling I was able to cure my insomnia naturally and pretty fast. I followed the Sleep Tracks sleep optimization program, here is their official web -site if you want to take a look: http://www.insomniacure.net
Ohhh..and Good Luck!

Actually the cold symptoms are mostly viral. So most medicines does not work for the cure. However you could get some relieve by taking vapours of wicks, do some breathing exercises. Boil some tea with ginger add some honey and drink it slowly.

Sweat it out! Drink lots of water(1 gal in less then 4 hrs,), dress in sweats, and workout til the sweat is really rolling. Jumping jacks sit ups whatever it takes. Then when you go to bed take a really hot shower dress in clean sweats take 2 aspirin and go to bed. You will sweat through the night and by morning you will feel better you won't be totally over your cold but about a 80% turn around. My husband and I do this all the time it works.

Take a cup of hot tea, add a shot of whiskey, it tastes terrible but you will sweat like a pig and be rid of your cold in the morning.

The remdy is basic and old fashioned. Make sure you get plenty of rest, drink a lot of fluids, expecially orange juice and take some pain reliever for your discomfort.
