Most likely you have not ruined your singing voice. But, yes, it can be ruined. By smoking, screaming, yelling, improper singing, severe laryngitis.....the best way to sing high notes is to warm up properly, get a vocal teacher to teach you proper techniques, and to learn proper breathing. Your best bet is to talk to a vocal teacher, or a music teacher at your school.

RE:
Can you ruin your singing voice?
How can you ruin it? Is there any way to fix it? I noticed that sometimes when I sing loud, my throat tickles really bad and I cant seem to sing like I used to. Did I ruin my singing voice by hitting too many high notes?

You can ruin your voice if you do not warm up your vocal chords before singing. Before singing for periods of time and especially if you are going to hit high notes you should do vocal exercises. Once your vocal chords are ready you should hear a clearer voice register. Please consider knowing your limits. You can also ruin your voice by forcing to hit those high notes. You should really understand your vocal range, chest voice/head voice.
Make sure you are exercising your diaphragm as well. Good singers do many abdominal sit ups to strengthen their diaphragm.
Work your chords up to how they use to be. Let them rest and then slowly start doing scales and such. You should be doing vocal exercises on a daily basis if you truly want to enhance your vocal abilities.
Lastly when your done practicing those high notes…take some tea and honey so you can coat your vocal chords after a good singing practice. Work your way up to those high notes until you feel your voice back to normal so that way you can hit them with a clear and beautiful sound.

It's very possible to learn to sing well. You just need to know the right methods. Learn here https://tinyurl.im/aH6ZT Singing teachers will cost money and can be expensive so they're not for everyone. Singing can be learned so it's not an "either you have it or you don't" kind of thing. Whether you sound like crap or you're decent, I recommend this singing course. It's one of the best methods to learn to sing well in a short amount of time. It's all about using efficient techniques that work.

YES, some diseases caused by smoking (cancer and emphysema) can cause fluid in the lungs, which is extremely bad for a singing voice. I'm not sure if you have seen the commercial with the two cowboys singing in the middle of the city, but the cowboy is singing out of his neck because his vocal cords had to be removed from complications due to smoking. Quit now and keep your voice and your health. It's not worth it.

Well I never had a singing voice to begin with (my family doesn't even let me sing "happy birthday" ) , but I have heard that you can strain your voice but I don't think it is permanent. I have also heard of concerts being cancelled because the singer had a sore throat but was able to reschedule at a later time.
In time, you should be abe to sing away.

Yes. You can also lose it if it's a talent and you don't use it. But for real, I feel like that a lot too. I can sing but at times when air hits my throat or if I hit a high note, my throat hurts or I crack really bad. I think I need voice lessons. Have you had any??? I need to learn more control of that situation.

Whatever that little plate is in your throat that lets you change the pitch of your voice, I'd like to say vocal cords but I dont know for sure, can get callused. Some singers have gotten so callused that they had to have it scrapped then not talk hardly at all for a few months and hope it recovers okay.

This why you need to warm up before you hit the high notes.
Rest them for a while, don't smoke at all...don't drink milk before you are going to sing. Start comfortably low & soft & work your way up to high, but not too loud. If you are singing on a regular basis, you need to train your throat like an athlete. Do scales, just like you warmed up in HS choir, or church choir, if the did it right that is...

High notes won't kill your voice.. but poor technique will.. if you are feeling strained when you sing then you may need to get a few extra voice coaching hours in .. to help improve your technique so you can avoid any potential problems..
