When I answer a question that was posted 20 seconds ago, a dozen people have already answered it?

I have high-speed Internet access too, so how can so many people get there before me?

same thing happens to everyone.

but the timer thing is Last Update

They were already in the process before you even started typing.
Think about how many people could possibly see that question and think about it all over the world.

It doesn't matter to the asker if you are first or you are last. The answerer will pick the best one.

I feel that when I am reading it, someone else is already in the process of answering it and posting it. So I don't worry about it, I just answer the best of my abilities.

btw, thanks for the info on the bulb fertilizer...you may have answered last, but I picked yours as best answer!

There's time lag... You got to also picture that millions of users are on yahoo at one time, at even half a million, and say 1000 of them are answering questions, your not the only one who clicks answer on a question at that split second in time. There are also a handful of people who are also answering the question at the same time you are, some take longer to reply because of how much is written in terms of answers. Like right now... I'll probably have many people answer before me

lots of people viewing. Some saw it when it was only 5 seconds old. Maybe faster typers too...

there are a lot of people looking at the same question at the same time, and they all click "submit" at about the same time.
