You shouldn't be denied. Most pregnant women receive help, even partial help from medicaid. Have you applied for WIC? If WIC accepts you then they will pass the info on to Medicaid and Medicaid has to accept you? How much money do you make? I know that NOMB, but if you make I think over a certain amount depending on state they won't accept you. that's probabaly the case, but try again and do check out any pregancy and crisis centers in your state. In Texas we have several and to Marie 1257, I have a bachelors degree, work full time am highly educated and I still qualified for Medicaid. By the way, if you do work, full or part time and pay taxes, then technically, you ARE paying for the use of Medicaid should you ever have to get it. My taxes go to it just like yours, I received Medicaid, so Medicaid isn't free, not even to those who receive it.

First off, Marie 1257 who answered your question needs to get her head out of her butt, along with the other idiots who obviously didn't read your entire question!! You can try applying again. I really don't see where child support for your other kids has anything to do with the new baby, so that shouldn't matter. Also try the health department, your doctor, your local action agency (if ya have one), & also women services. You may need to move, if that's an option. I know things change from county to county even though Department of Human Services is suppopse to be a STATE department. I know people who lived in one county & couldn't get any assistence, then after moving to another county, they got help. Once you have the baby, that extra $2oo won't mean a thing. It'll be going for diapers, etc.. Also if they deny you, talk to the supervisor, & so on.

First off they don't HAVE to give you medicaid just because you are pregnant. What kind of job are you working that they you would make enough money to be denied medicaid but they do not offer you medical coverage? You need to talk to your employer about getting you some coverage. Unless you are working under the table or stripping or something like that they should have SOMETHING to offer you. If that fails it may be in your best intrest to switch jobs or cut your hours back so you would qualify. When you applied you should have talked to a case worker. Maybe you could go back and discuss it with them to see what you need to do to get approved..

Most states have a spend down program.
You may have to pay up to 20 a months for insurance but it would be worth it.
Check with your local health department

i would go to your local health department or planned parenthood, they offer medical care based on what income there is in the house. you should qualify for medicaid, since you have no health insurance, i would file an appeal.
