I remember 1st seeing it on TV as a kid. Always loved it, great film.
Unfortunately, the person who said that the view about people wanting to hang on to their youth at all costs being out-dated, is not correct. Our Western culture has not moved on from that thinking, in fact, I'd say it has got worse. Surgical cosmetic enhancements are at an all time high, men are getting into a lot more these day, steroid abuse is rising all the time (and not just in body builders, but even teens are doing it), anti-aging creams and potions are huge business and botox is available in some high street places! Most people know the dangers of things such as general anesthetic, steroids, etc, but are still willing to risk it. Anorexia among teens is at an all time high as people are being brainwashed into thinking stick thin bony people are better looking. All women who get grey hair dye it. In the entertainment industry, over 30 is considered old for a woman.
It may be changing, but not nearly quickly enough for the victims who fall (have fallen and will fall) by the way side.

I love that movie. It is just strange to think that a so called utopian society would let computers run their lives.
I loved the tv show too, although it didn't last long.
There have been rumors of a remake, but still no cast for it yet.

A little dated, but still a pretty cool movie. The TV show kinda sucked IMO, though.
