My computer is 2 years old, everything was fine with it, until recently it starts to shut down on its own. I could be surfing the net and it shuts down by itself. It has start to shut down like 4 or more times. And it is complicated to make it work again, like if i press the on button I immediately need to press the space bar key or else this thing won't start. Sometimes not even doing this will help. Could it be viruses?

My computer tell's me that I had viruses but that they were deleted, but still im confused. One more thing my computer started all this problem when it was making a loud noise, but then it got rid of it self. Whats going on?

it sounds like bad hardware. it could be your fan or your hard drive or power supply. all three of those usually makes noises when they are going bad. the only way to really tell is to take it to a computer repair store. you could try reformatting your hard drive, but i dont think that will take care of the problem.

Chances are you have burned out a fan. It was making noise, meaning it was going bad, and now it is not. It died. Your computer is overheating and shuts down. Most fans cost about $12 US and can be replaced in about an hour. It is not hard.

Shut everything off. Remove the cover. Locate the fans, usually 2 of them. One close to the power supply (about 3 to 4 inches across) and the other on the CPU itself, about 2 inches across. Start the computer and figure out which one is dead. Shut everything down. Remove the dead fan.

Take it to a good computer store, preferably a locally owned one. They will help you get the right replacement. Take it home and install it.

Power it all up to make sure it is running. Shut it all down. Put the cover back on. Start it up and you should be good to go.

Go into the control panel
Double click the system icon
Go to the advanced tab
Click on Startup and Recovery
Uncheck where it says "Automatically Restart"

If your PC is having a driver conflict or other SOFTWARE problems, rather than just rebooting, it will now display an error (and then probably lock up and have to be rebooted). At least now you will be able see what kind of an error is causing the problem and be able to resolve it from there.

If the computer continues to reboot on its own, then it is a HARDWARE issue, usually fans, power supply, etc. Try opening the case and blowing everything out with compressed air. Clean all the fans and make sure they are working. That may resolve the issue. If not, you may need to have a professional look at it.

You said that you have to press the spacebar to get by something on reboot. Can you post more information, exact messages, etc. That could help to tell us what is causing the reboot.

It's difficult to say what the exact problem is. I have had similar problems with a computer in the past, and the culprit was a bad stick of ram. The loud noises sounds like a hard drive failure, which could also be the problem, in which case you would need to replace it.

I don't have much experience with viruses, so I cannot give you advice in that area.

Make sure when you turn on your computer that the fan kicks in and starts running to rule out an overheating problem.
Try starting your computer n Safe Mode, turn off system restore (if you are using XP) check the hard drive to make sure it isn't full, run a scan dick/disk check on it, update your antivirus software then run another virus scan. Also run a SpyWare program to delete all the spyware.
If none of this works try reloading your windows software.

sounds like its not a virus. something maybe hard disk started going bad but hasn't crashed completely yet. or Just a fan there are probably 3 or 4 fans that can go bad.
one inside the power supply
one to keep CPU cool
sometimes a smaller one to keep chip-set on motherboard cool.
sometimes one on the case to keep it all cooler.
if any one of these fans isn't spinning from anything from clogged with hairballs and dust to a paperclip will stop the computer until it cools down again.

This problem is often caused by out-of-date video drivers. Go to the Web site run by the manufacturer of your video card and download, then install, the latest (non-beta) drivers for your video card.

Alternatively, you can try the following:

1.
Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

2.
Click Display (in classic view of Windows XP), click the Settings tab, and then click Advanced.

3.
Click the Performance or Troubleshooting tab (depending on your operating system), and then reduce hardware acceleration a notch at a time until your system stabilizes.

the final rule right this is if this occurs randomly, that's in all probability a hardware subject. If this occurs constantly that's in all probability utility. in case you have put in utility presently, that's advisable to purpose 'device fix' to circulate back to a time while it grew to become into working. If the workstation may well be overheating you will get carry of utility to study the CPU and board temperature. those shouldn't exceed 70 ranges c or 50 ranges C respectively. you're able to be able to additionally want to look interior and notice how dusty that's as this stops air circulating precise.
