before bed. Your body repairs itself at night, so it usually only uses the vit/mineral in your multivitamin when repairing itself. If you take it in the morning you typically pee out most of the multi by bed time. Afternoon? even if you could remember to take it, the same applies as in the morning.

It's good to take the vitamin with food, breakfast time would be the best, because then you are active throughout the day, using up the energy it gives you. But if you're like me and tend to stay up late, late in the evening- you should take it around lunch time.
But multi-vitamins (a good brand) can be taken with or without food.
