My brother ask me why girls were purses i didnt know what to say i normally only take mine to school and put all my school supplies but i didnt think most girls did that. can you help me answer his question?

Girls clothing is not generally blessed with the same amount of pocket space as guy's clothing is. Where else would we put cell phones, wallets, lip gloss, keys, etc? Generally the only time I go sans purse is if I'm going to the bar and traveling light enough to shove everything in my tiny pockets, but the main reason I do that is so I don't have to worry about losing my purse. Of course, if I'm carrying a school bag anyway a lot of the time I'll just stick the stuff I would carry in a purse in that bag. That being said, purses have evolved to less of a necessity and more of a fashion statement, so for some girls a purse completes their outfit.

To carry our important stuff, like money, credit cards, keys, a pen, chapstick/lipstick, a picture of a loved one and sometimes a small snack. We don't always wear pants with pockets unlike men and even if we did, sometimes its not enough to put all the stuff we need. like if you put the wallet in one pocket and the keys in the other how do you carry the other stuff you need. Also, in some parts of the world girls/ladies carry purses/handbags as a companion( something they can hang onto while they walk or ride in the bus or what ever) and also as a sign of feminity.

I'm 38 yrs old., have been carrying a purse since I can remember. It holds my wallet, which has my driver's license, social security card, ATM card, money, etc. It also carries my cigarettes and lighter, checkbook, important papers and bills to mail out, sunglasses, various lipsticks (never know what mood I might be in, or what I might be wearing), pens, nail files, and stuff for my daughter (I have a small pocket inside that is designated for her crayons for when we go out to dinner).
My purse is huge, and also holds my water bottle on a daily basis, and snacks I've bought for movies to save on money.

I assume you mean wear purses.
A purse is a container to carry things that you may or may not meed.
Men carry purses too.
They are called:
Briefcases........... or
camera bags ....or
Back packs.
Some brave metrosexuals etc actually carry a purse.
Very practical.
A purse is also a fashion statement.
It is far more fun to carry a purse that says something about your personality!
Whatever that may be!

When I was younger, I never used to carry a purse. I used to carry everything I needed in my pockets. Now that I'm older, everything that I need won't fit in my pockets and some of my clothes don't even have pockets. I have noticed that as I get older, my purses keep getting bigger!

Practically every woman wears a purse. I for one put all my stuff in it, from keys, to a cell phone, make up, wallet, anything, we just like to carry alot of things around, well I do, like to be prepared lol

I'm a health care professional. I got a bigger purse so I could carry my stethoscope with me. I have accidentally forgotten to bring the stethoscope to work with me in the past. It was so embarrassing I wanted to make sure it would never happen again.

because it's a fashion statement AND it's conveniant. personally i don't carry a purse to college, i use a tote, but purses are great for occassions and things like that. (put your makeup in there, and you're all set)

Because women carry so much more than guys. While guys stuff most of their carry things in their pockets (keys, money, etc), women can't because it seems women's pockets are smaller, if their clothes have them at all, and some women don't like to shatter their shape by having bulky budges in their pockets.

Most skirts and dresses don't have pockets.
...Also it's more efficient. Every time I leave the house I have to find my keys, my wallet, my cell phone, my glasses,...etc. Women just grab their purse.
