Yes it is completely possible. Some babies are very efficient nursers. As for the rest of the comments about 'not producing enough' and 'go to formula now', wow it amazes me how UNINFORMED people are. There is a very small 1% I think it is of the population that can't produce enough milk.. I have a very healthy happy 15 month old who had absolutely NO formula ever. My two favorite sources for breastfeeding information are www.kellymom.com and www.drjaygordon.com

Do your breasts feel empty after he finishes? I could usually tell if my daughter hadn't finished the full supply on each side. If he wants to switch after 5 minutes you can always go back to the first breast when he wants to stop on the second. It would add 10 minutes to the feeding but it might help make sure he gets everything.

My daughter was just the same way! In the early days, I was worried about it- then I discovered that she could drain a fully engorged breast in less than 10 minutes. :) She was just really efficient!

If your babe was getting too much foremilk, he'd be fussy, gassy and probably have the green, frothy poop consistently. If all seems well, just let him decide how long he wants to stay on the breast.

If your baby is only getting the foremilk the poop will have a green tinge. If the baby is getting enought hindmilk the poop will be more of a yellow color and look grainy...like little mustard seeds.

Your baby's weight and satisfaction level are the best indicators. Is he content for awhile after you finish feeding? Is he gaining, or holding a good healthy weight? If these are yes's then I wouldn't worry. If you're baby is not getting what he needs, he has ways of letting you know (hungry too often, crying/fussing alot, not content after feeding, etc.) Just watch for his signs, and you'll do fine!

Sounds good to me. By that time, my daughter only nursed longer than 10 minutes if she was falling asleep. They become really good at getting that milk out, lol.

I believe it is possible. I had to stop nursing my baby at 6 weeks old due to her draining me. I then nursed her as much as I could. I would even nurse her then give her a bottle.

As long as he is getting wet diapers and gaining weight he should be fine. Also he will be screaming his head off if he was still hungry. Congrats...you have a fast eater. (lucky you!)

He's fine! He's just getting more efficient. Enjoy! If he seems hungry more often, it may be time for some yummy rice cereal!

If you are going through that much milk it might be time for formula. I had to stop breastfeeding at 1 month because i wasnt producing enough milk.
