My closest friend asked me to be godfather of his son before he was born, about 9 months ago. We are like bothers, he really does not have many friends and most of his family is over seas. I was very proud told my family, and bought him an engraved cross for the baptism. On Sunday morning I get a phone call from my friend at 10:30 he was upset he was crying he babbled for a bit then said that his wife asked her brother to be the Godfather of there son. I was shocked to say the least. Its not that they asked her brother, they have the right to change their mind. It’s that he knew for at least 2 weeks if not longer. I saw them both a week before and that same weekend she attended my wife’s baby shower. I was holding him and was telling people that this is my godson she didn’t say anything then either. The day of the baptism my family attended and mutual friends were there and they were all like “I thought you were the godfather” To say the least I was also embarrassed and my family that attended were angry when I told them I only found out 2 hours prior. Also the cross that I bought him was not worn. How should I act toward them now. Have not spoke to them in the last 2 days. I feel hurt and disrespected, should I let it pass or say something, if so what??????

Just let it go. They have forgot or changed their mind and forgot to tell you.

If you must say something, let them know that you were disappointed but come off as being angry about it.

If I were you I would definitely say something. At least sit them down and tell them how you feel. True it may not change the fact that you are no longer going to be the Godfather. But it will help heel the relationship between you all. Explain to them it bothers you that he didnt let you know as soon as he was 'overridden' by his wife.

Truth is always best. Maybe the two of you can always be up front and honest to one another after you get this out of the way. If you keep it hidden, then you may not let this pass.

1. He's not a friend, nor would you want to socialize with he nor his wife in the future — they are liars. They made a mockery of you in a public place, not to mention it being a church with an audience.

2. You have no reason to be embarrassed. You told the truth as it was set forth at the time. You can tell the truth that the wife and husband set you up for the fall at the last minute.

3. I find it very cruel, plus the gifts they milked out of everyone is a blatant sham. They deserve eachother, but the poor child.

4. Forgive them, and be thankful it wasn't a life-threatening situation that you had to depend upon them.

5. Move on. You are a nice man and will have no difficulty making new friends of higher calibre. The 'Liars & Milkers' are clearly out of your league.

Good Luck and Warm Wishes!

Honey, I purely have been given engaged and that i understand the suspense you're dealing with LOL if your guy asked your dad on your hand in marriage he's extreme approximately marrying you. purely take exhilaration in this time and turn your anticipation into exhilaration. He ought to be saving those previous couple of greenbacks for the hoop or making plans the perfect thank you to represent. If he's putting greater theory into the muse he ought to prefer further money for that and desires time to sustain for that too.
