I got mine done a few years ago and I'm a petite girl - I think it's really cute. I have several different 'rings' to match bathinsuits and things - they're fun. The only way I can relate the pain is if you go to the doctor and get a shot in the side of your upper arm...it feels just like that, but right after the ring penetrates you, the pain practically disappears. It's nothing to be scared of - pretty much just like getting your ears pierced. The pain afterwards is more of an annoying thing than a painful thing, it just feels like you have a bruise on your belly button..you'll want to wear comfy pants when you go get it done, try not to wear jeans b/c the zipper/button may irritate the belly ring. The only downside for me when I got it done was that it took mine about 6 months to heal, it kept getting infected even though I cleaned it all the time...my sister's however, healed within a few weeks. It just depends on the person - but nonetheless I'd do it again!

Part 2: It hurts but I've had worse and if it closed I'd have it done again. It looks pretty horrendous as well that first night you get home and take the dressing off (just in case you're a bit squeamish).
You do have to bathe it for about 3 months after. Take care to wash it with very slightly salty water. Do not use anything strong. I thought I'd be smart and use something chemical (Dettol or something). Ended up with chemical burns.
The lady who pierced me also said it can take about two years to settle as opposed to the two months it takes for ears, so be aware that it might take some time.
How to break it to your parents if they're a bit anti-piercing: Wait until they're in another country and subtly slip it into an email: "Dear Dad, had day out in Norwich, went to cinema, got navel pierced, did some shopping, just a normal Saturday..."

Yes, think peircings look good on petite girls . On a scale of 1 to 10 the pains about 6 1/2 !My daughter let hers close up and was left with a small scar. The aftercare of a body peircing is very important too you have to keep it very, very clean in order to stop it getting infected.

I'm only 5'3 and i had it done, not sure how petite you are but i kinda come into that category!

mine didn't hurt much at all afterwards, just remember not to wear clothes that will iritate it.

One problem i did have was the woman who did it, did it wonky and i didn't realise until much later. Stupidly i kept trying to get it to sit straight, thinking it was the bar not the hole and slowly it started working its way out. i now have a scar there in the same shape as a cat's 'pink star fish' which altho it isn't really that visible i still know its there.

now having your tongue pierced, that's something i can agree on!!!!!

i have my belly button pierced 5 years ago and i think it looks nice on petite women, the pain is bearable unless it becomes infected but if you go to a clean salon and follow there instructions there should be no problem with infection, andif you decide to let it close up there would only be a tiny little scar which probably wouldnt be noticable unless you point it out to people. but never get anything like a piercing or a tattoo unless you are sure about wanting it

i had mine done when i was 15 it only hurt for the initial minute when the needle goes in, then its fine, there was no redness or swelling or anything. i took it out after 5 or 6 years cause i was pregnant, you can see the hole where it was but not a scar as such, it has closed up but not totally if you put a stud through it just pushes out a wee worm like bit of skin then thats it peirced again, no pain or anything. hope that helps

it will suit you im sure. it doesnt hurt whilst piercing, it only takes a few seconds. it stings for a bit afterwards and u must clean it twice a day. (savlon wound spray is good) and you can change it after 6 weeks. my first one grew out after 3 years and iv had it re-done..... the previous hole is healing up really well. it depends on how your body heals on whether it will leave a scar or not. get it pierced! hope this helps x

I've had mine done twice and yes if it closes up it leaves a scar. I had to take my second one out because I was pregnant. Now that she is here I don't think I am going to have it redone. But again yes it leaves a scar and it hurts for like a day.

If your petite you shouldn't have to worry about it looking ok.#2 It doesn't hurt when you get it done. it happens so fast its in before you know it.you can't ware any tight clothes around that area until it heals because that would irritate it. The person that does your piercing should tell you this .put a&d ointment on it until it heals. Two weeks for me. good luck.

You can get different size belly bars so you can wear one to suit your size, they numb it b4 they pierce it so you don't feel anything may just feel abit uncomfortable, and yes it will be abit uncomfortable after as you have just made a hole in your belly if you take it out and look after it shouldn't scar to much. But do think about it b4 you jump straight in
