A couple of you suggested defragging: sorry to be a Luddite but I don't really know what this entails - will it delete anything or does it just sort of tidy up? Do I need to save everything to a CD just in case?

No u don't. It will not delete your files just put them in order to make more space. Go to your start button then to programs from there go to accessories then go to system tools and click on disk defragmenter and then click on defragment and it will start up. Good luck hope this helps.

Defragmenting just rearranges the files on your hard drive so that they can be accessed more quickly. Go to Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk Defragmenter to run Defrag.

Defragging is a completely harmless procedure that reorganizes files on yoru computer. Think of it as a messy library that needs someone to put all the books back in alphabetical order. Everything runs faster when it's organized.
