Al- Qaeda is an Arabic word meaning The Order. Its history of origin is traced back to the Russian invasion on Afganistan. It's said that a group of religious scholars and students started defyinbg the Russian troops for their mistreatment with the Afgan people, women and children especially. And that is how it started out. But that is not authentic. That story was only spread to make the common man believe it to be true. Al-Qaeda was introduced by 2 governments. One of them was a strong one and was striving to be the best. The other one was a relatively weaker one, which has and is still becoming stronger. They used this organization for kicking Russia out of Afganistan. The organization is still under the control of the above mentioned governments. It's all a play.. just a lavish play for the so called Al- Qaeda leaders and a terrorism dilemma to the world.

Al Qaeda means base, foundation, or fortification. It was started by a bunch of rich foreign born arabs and persians who traveled to Afghanistan during the failed Soviet conquest. They worked with the Afghan government in exile, as well as the various tribal lords, to defeat the Soviet army.

There were at one point in the 1970's at least 40 different paramilitary groups operating on the protestant side alone, and the various sectarian paramilitaries operated with varying degrees of legality. Since the political agreements at the end of the 20th century there has been no significant terrorist activity in Northern Ireland, the main groups have 'stood down', and in most cases disarmed. They haven't gone away, as they point out. The best policy is to leave the ex combatant groups to continue working things out peacefully.
