I go to thrift stores occasionally and I see stuff that I think could be flipped on eBay. I am not talking about a $3 ring that could be sold for $5000, but every day stuff that I could buy for $4 and sell for $15. Do you know somebody who gets their eBay stuff from thrift stores? What kinds of things are steady sellers? I know you might say "just give it a try and see for yourself" but I don't want to end up spending $40 (plus eBay fees) on 10 items that don't sell. Thanks Yahoo! Answers!

I have sold (and still sell) items on eBay, although now I sell mostly large lots of office supplies and equipment. However, sometimes I run across smaller, single items at thrift stores (like the local Goodwill store), or at garage sales, which seem resellable. Stuff like jewelry, old/unusual glass pieces, things like that. If something is very reasonably priced (one or two dollars, or less), and may have collector value, I'll buy it, and I'll usually end up selling it for at least 10 times my cost. In the rare instance that it doesn't sell, I'll just keep it (or give it away).

One thing that seems to sell pretty solidly is books (specifically hardcovers). You're not going to make a "mint" selling them, but you can almost always sell books---new, used, or rare---on eBay. The ISDN number on the book (on the back cover, or on the jacket) can be looked up, right on eBay, and you can tell whether or not you've got a first edition (more valuable).

Two benefits are: you can often buy a whole boxful of books at a thrift store (or elsewhere) for a dollar, or maybe two. Even if you sell the books for $1 apiece, you've still made quite a profit. And second, books can be shipped via U.S. Postal Service Media Mail...ultra cheap!

Actually, there's a third benefit too, although it's not business-oriented: while you're waiting for your auctions to end, you'll have something to read!

You can sell items you legally obtain, provided they are not banned or illegal, including items purchased from a Thrift Store.

I do recommend that you do an ebay search for the same or similar item(s), just to see if there is demand/interest for them which potentally would result in a sale for you (and profit, as well).

With few exceptions, any item that is legal to sell can be sold on ebay. Certainly, anything bought at a thrift store can be resold.

My mom the jewlery freak tells me that fashionable teenagers are craving silver jewlry now. Allowance+ No bills + No cars + no soliciting @ school campus= online sleepovers.
"Collectibles" "Antiques" "Scrap Metals i.e. silver" Describe "it" well and list "it" under the best category... No one can buy it if they can't hunt it down... An excellent picture or two go a long way for eye-candy.
If you see a destroyed pair of ballet shoes, ASK the homeowner WHY they're for sale. Perhaps Fred Astiare once wore them. Of course if "it" doesn't sell, "it" is still yours to enjoy.
