Find a deck with images YOU feel connected with. This means pictures you like and relate to in some way.
For instance I like the Hanson Roberts deck, the Robin Wood Tarot and the Connolly Tarot Deck. I don’t like the darker cards like Crowley’s Thoth Tarot, but each to their own. One of the most popular decks is the Rider-Waite Tarot. http://www.psychic-junkie.com/develop-psychic-ability.html

It's an old wise tale about someone else having to buy your tarot deck for you. You should purchase your own deck because the imagery of the cards, the whole connection the story they portray must resonate with you, the one who will be using them.

Yes, you can, but really you should choose the cards that you are drawn to, so its best for you to be there. (By drawn to I mean the ones that you kind of instantly go for) as there are lots of different types. Alot of tarot readers will not let others play with their cards and certainly will not let others read from them. Some may not even let others shuffle them, but the cards are yours, and so is the coice. Choose well!

Some people say that you should never buy your own deck of tarot cards as its supposed to be unlucky, I bought my own several years ago and I have nothing but good luck, guess its up to you whether your superstitious or not.

No, you have to be given them, at least in the spirit of it - nothing to stop you going out and buying some but a friend of mine from the 80s who used to do readings always said you couldn't buy your own if you wanted good/accurate readings but had to be given them.

I certainly think so. Just make sure you cleanse them of any residual energy and get your own energy into them before you use them for the first time.

Buying them is bad. asking someone to buy them is bad. you have to be given them out of somones own choice to buy them for you.
