I said a prayer for you today
And know God must have heard-
I felt the answer in my heart
Although He spoke no word!
I didn't ask for wealth or fame
(I knew you wouldn't mind)-
I asked Him to send you treasures
Of a far more lasting kind!
I asked that He'd be near you
At the start of each new day
To grant you health and blessings
And my friendship to share your way!
I asked for happiness for you
In all things great and small-
But it was for His loving care
I prayed the most of all!

While this is a disappointing event in your life, it by no means has to be a financial disaster. First of all, there are more than enough people in your city that need a handyman (including electrical work). He needs to become that handyman as an independent. He can set his own rates. The union may or may not like it (he may want to consider resigning from the union) but he could be in control of his own destiny that way. There are challenges to operating your own business but many benefits as well. Among the challenges: insurance, bookeeping, IRS tax filings, etc.
Among the pluses: IRS gives more deductions for a home based business than any other deductions, time control, cost control, additional profits that go in his pocket, etc.

Don't think of this as a downturn, think of this as an opportunity. God may have just thrown this in his lap to bless him (or get his attention, or both).

I'll pray for you too.

Can he work in another city? The Gulf Coast (Houston) needs ALL kinds of skilled tradesmen. There are jobs ads going unanswered down here - I'm not kidding. It may not be easy living aprat for awhile, but work is work.
