I have more than one pair of jeans that are too long. I would like to know how to cut them and make the frayed look. I am not sure if it is called a fringe or frayed, but I would love to know how to make my jeans wearable. I was told sewing them shorter was too difficult. Please help.

Cut 'em, but not too short, because when you wash them, they will ride up a little more. If you want them to fringe alot right off, cut them and scrape over the cut with your scissors before you wash them.

I had some jeans that ended up getting too short for me. To make them longer, I took out the hem and they got the frayed look to them. My grandma fixed a pair of jeans for me one time that were too long, she measured them first to make sure she was cutting straight and even on both sides. She drew a line after that with a permanent marker, then made sure both sides were even again. Then she cut them carefully with shears, right above the marker line. They did start to fray a little after she did this, but on my jeans, she ended up hemming them. But if you want the frayed look, then try these steps without the hemming at the end. Just make sure that both sides come out even. And then just play with the ends and kind of pull to make them frayed. Good luck.

Cut the bottom off and wash them they will fringe when you take out of dryer. Can also take a razor blade and cut slits in them, they will look tough.

just cut off the bottom. when they have no hem, they fray on their own after being washed.

Cut them off about an inch below where you want them to be, then wash them on the "fast" cycle.

you just buy something called a seam ripper. Just cut them and w/the seam ripper, just go along the hem and fringe them. Buy a seam ripper where they sell needles/thread.
