Your laptop doesn't always use the exact same amount of power all the time, if you're doing a processor intensive project, or something that has your hard drive spinning at maximum speed all the time, you'll drain your battery faster, but yes, your battery life will decrease over time, though halved in six months isn't normal, but again, it all deprends on what you're doing at the time.

Yea. laptop computers do not have very long battery life. I was playing on a laptop that was at full power. Battery ran out within several hours.

Do you always keep it plugged in? Do you always recharge it without letting it discharge most of the way? If so, then that's your problem...the battery has developed a "memory." You should let it discharge most of the way before recharging it and also don't keep it plugged in all the time.
