I never heard of Bill Oddie, sorry. If he was famous in his own right, well, I wouldn't know.
Judging from your question, Bill Oddie and Badgers...
Steve Irwin was a really colourful character. I thought he was rather foolhardy, but then he's an expert in what he was doing. He died the way he was living.
Fuss? May Steve Irwin rest in peace. If Bill Oddie had died, I would have said the same thing. However, he's not as famous as Steve Irwin, and consequently I don't think there would have been as much fuss.

What on earth has Bill Oddie done for Wildlife?
All he does is walk around the English Countryside photographing Ducks and Birds and trying to make people laugh.
Steve Irwin is in a different class and did more for Wildlife and saving Endangered Species than anyone and his Catchphrase has nothing to do with his work.
Steve Irwin and his family set up Australia Zoo to protect and, breed animals in danger, the Zoo is one of the most famous in the world, what has Bill Oddie done that makes him your hero?

I think Steve Irwin was a more colourful persona aswell as having international fame whereas Bill Oddie is only really known in the UK. It would, however, be a sad day if Oddie was killed by a badger....and the nation would surely mourn his passing...

I don't know who Bill Oddie is, I am Australian, It is the fact Steve Irwin was known all over the world.
Bite your tongue and remember Karma my friend. Don't disrespect the dead.
I doubt who ever this Oddie fella is, That a memorial service would be broadcast around the world.
Steve did more then what most men have ever done for the world
& to the idiot who said he was a " lion tamer" get your facts right.. That is degrading.... I am proud to be Australian & i don't feel the need to degrade the dead.
Rest in Peace Steve

I have actually met Bill Oddie in real life, and he was nice enough to sign the same book twice for me in about five minutes (it's a long story. The story's a long story, I mean, not the book's a long story...er, never mind.) May he never be pecked to death by ducks, and RIP, Steve Irwin.

You're right. Just imagine if Bill Oddie was killed by the sharp end of a feather through the heart? The nation would mourn.

The people of Australia are rightly proud of Steve Irwin and so are many of us around the world who thought his work towards conservation was commendable. The memorial service was a celebration of a life well lived and a death that came far too soon.
CRIKEY!! What's with the jealousy???

The difference is everybody knows Steve and fortunately tons of kids will now venture towards conservation as we all know the animals have been crying for help for years. Kids are the ones who announced their parents of Steve's passing, he had charisma and a natural je- ne -sais -quoi. Also after reading your question I have determined that you are neither an ecologist nor a spokesperson for nature.
