Van Gogh was a dutch man who was a post impressionist. He was an art dealer who started to paint in the 1880's
He painted in many places. Most of his most famous paintings were done in France, in Paris and a southern town called Arles.
He was influenced by the bright colours.

He then progressed to become a spot welder but had to give that up following the loss of his ear as he could no longer wear the protective glasses that the strict Dutch health and safety laws demanded.
