I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on gays and religion...in the bible it says "If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have commited an abomination. They should surely be put to death. Their blood shall be apon them." Shouldn't god love all his children? Why did he create gay people if they are such a sin? I believe being gay is about love and why should someone be sent to hell for loving someone else? I also read something about the "original form of the bible" and how that there is nothing about homosexuality being a sin in it...does anyone know anything about that? -Thank you for your help

Loving another person is never a sin, no matter what gender they are.

God makes gay people exactly how they are (and straight people, and those somewhere in-between) and God doesn't make junk! Who are we to disparage and defame any of God's gifts?

Truly it is a heinous sin to preach hatred, discrimination, bigotry and therefore violence against LGBT people. Not only is this hypocritical, and using only selective parts of the bible, but it ignores the whole "judge not" part as well.

People who say "love the sinner, hate the sin" are the most vicious hypocrites in my book - they obviously hate both.

I was more of these hate-mongers would try - just once - to embrace tolerance, peace, love, and understanding. WWJD?

Did God create a Gay person or did the Gay person create the gay person? This is the question! Anyway in lust and attraction some people do things that are bad because they are bad(in vain)! I think there are both types. As I have witnessed kids at an early age express such tendencies but you most also consider the enviroment and society. YOu must look at the source of these actions. You must also look at the true nature of it. Now if you are gay and concerned about it ask yourself one question and end your concern. Are you doing this in vain. If not what is your concern?

This maybe a terrible comparision but is the cloest thing I can think of. If a person does an action like breaking windows since they have been doing this from an early age and never knew otherwise this is not in vain! Breaking windows and a being gay is a lot different but you get the point of it.

It says a lot of things in the bible. It justifies slavery by telling masters how to treat the slaves he owns. It tells husbands what size of a rod they can beat their wives with. And it tells fathers to sell their daughters to the highest bidder as a wife.

Our society has moved away from all these practices but why is the "man lies with males" passage always brought up as proof that gay is a sin.

It is human nature to make those who are different the evil ones. It has been done to women (ie Eve), and people of color in the past and now it's sexual minorities. This is not God's nature it man who is hurtful to his fellow man

This may upste the sensitivity of alot of people, but i am drawn to answer this. I believe the bible is not an authortative source. Many of the writers lived many years after the teachings of christ, and didnt include futher issues on this. Alot was also edited from the bible, as it was deemed 'premature' for the masses. we answer this question by understanding that there were many different writers of the bible, and at that time it may have not onbly been percieved as a sin , but a crime. What amazes me is how people still buy into this old way of thinking, and how Jesus and god, teach us Love is all there is.

All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. The Bible says no sin is worse than another so anyone who lusts after a woman who is not thier wife and homosexuals will have the same fate. Also remember the Bible was written by men about jesus and God and men are subject to biases and politics.

God did not create men to be gay. Nor women to be lesbians. People choose to be this way.
What the bible says about this kind of lifestyle you either agree or disagree.
God gives people the right to choose how they will live their lives whether they are a life after Him or a life of their own choosing.
According to the bible, if you choose to live a life outside of God then you are bound for hell.
The bible also clearly states what kinds of things are not pleasing to God and are a sin and if practiced willfully they will take you to hell. Homosexuality and Lesbianism are those type of sins! They are against nature and the way God intended for men and women to relate to one and other.

God does love his people but He does not love the lifestyles that some people choose that clearly go against His nature.

Romans1:24 Wherefore God gave them up to uncleaness through the lust of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves:
25. Who changed the truth of god into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. A-men!.
26. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature.
27 And likewise also the men, leaving the nature use of the women, burned in their lust one toward another, men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do thise things which are not convenient.

I think you are in the wrong forum, but let me address your question with another question:

Why did God create murderers if killing is such a sin?

If God didn't want Adam and Eve eating from the Tree in the middle of the Garden of Eden, why did he put it there in the first place?

Virtue has absolutely nothing to do with happiness and pleasure, and it is up to God to judge you for how virtuous you have been.

You just have to decide if you want to give yourself to the earth or give yourself to God (or Christ), depending on which religion you follow.

It is not the act of loving another person of the same sex that is a sin. We are supposed to love all of our brothers and sisters. The sin comes from having inappropriate relations with another person of the same sex. Without a marriage that is recognized by God sex between any two people can never be anything other than fornication. A gay person isn't going to go to Hell because they love another person. You can have love without sex and if you want to be right in the eyes of God you will have to use the free will he gave you to follow His laws on this matter.

Every person has inclinations to sin. Whether it be to kill, steal, commit sexual immorality, or simply talk bad about others, etc, we all have our challenges.

And that's the point. We all have our tests and challenges...and God has given us the tools to overcome them. For someone with homosexual tendencies, he or she may not have control over having the urges and attractions, but ultimately, they are in control of the choices they make whether to engage in the activity. Likewise, someone with a prediliction towards, stealing or drinking to excess or whatever, has the choice whether or not to become subsumed by their urges. This is what separates humans from the animals, the ability to reason that just because something feels good, that it may not be good in the end.

God has told us what He expects and what He cannot abide. And there is not a person on this earth who doesn't battle with some vice on a daily basis. It's our choice....do we elevate ourselves by restraining from and controlling our urges, or do we act like animals and let our 'nature' control our every breath.
