I am doing a full scan from this morning and it's still going. What do you think this might be?

If it's noisy too, you might have a fan going bad...in which case you would be overheating. Get a new fan ASAP if that's what it is.

what does the noise sound like? it could be a hardware issue which no amount of scanning will detect. if it is a virus, it will do more than be slow. your computer will act erratic. try cleaning up your hard drive - delete cookies, temp internet files, history, etc. also get rid of any programs/files you don't use. if your hard drive near capacity? if you free up some space it should run faster. however, the noise is what bothers me. it sounds like something is about to go bad inside your computer.

Backup all of your important data NOW!! If the noise is coming from your harddrive it could suddenly fail and leave you screwed!!

Learn from my mistake!

I agree. Try changing the fan first.
