I have a brand new house with a brand new lawn in North Carolina. Over the summer, most of my grass died. I need to do the fall fertilization and reseed so in the spring I will have good growth. When do I need to do this?

Any tips please?

Now would be the time for Kentucky bluegrass, fescue or a blend of the two. In warmest areas, some plant bermuda grass hybrids--I would wait for Spring to seed these.

Are you certain it's dead and not DORMANT? Personally, I only seed bare spots in the springtime.....late spring, a month or so after fertilizing. NEVER fertilize and seed at same time. The fertilizer will burn the seed! Young lawns need a first mowing before fertilization. Use a fertilizer with a high count of nitrogen (25+). That's the FIRST number on the bag. Scotts is a good SLOW release product that will help against burning the lawn. Keep it watered! If you've got a real healthy lawn, you'll have to mow twice a week...yeah, bummer! Sorry!

Fall is the perfect time. Get some bags of fertilizer and seed from Scott's and follow the directions.

Feed and weed during summer but make sure you water well and sow grass May or September thats if your climate is similar to here in the UK

March because the April showers will bring May flowers. Plus summer is too hot and winter everything dies.
