I walked a half-marathon once. That's about 21 km. I had more problems with blisters (I had new shoes) than chafing, but then I was prepared for the whole chafing thing.

Used to walk everyday at work and never got chafing. The most I walked in one day was around 30k.

The public transport is very bad in England - so when you drink that extra pint and miss the last bus or train, then miles you shall walk and chaffing will get revenge added into your hangover.

When in the Army, 10 miles (26K) were routine, 15 miles (38K), once a week.

Prevent chaffing with lots of talcum powder, or spandex shorts that will cover that area.
