This is an old saw that has been disproven more times then you have had hot meals.
The drunks are not that old. They look old because of the effect of booze. You obviously think it is cool so there would be no reasoning with you.
Keep this in mind. Neither my wife nor I drink. I am 59 she is 56 and will pass for many years younger. Neither of us has grey hair, we have good blood pressure, excellent skin. Think about your future Buffy, rather then thinking about a drunken present.

I don't know the answer but that is a great question and I do see alot more old drunks than old doctors where I live!

First off, I don't even think there are more old drunks than old doctors. You don't see old doctors because they retire before they get old because they made so much money. Second, even if there were more old drunks than old doctors, it's because of the socioecoonomic status. Usually poorer people are more likely to drink and have drinking problems. That's why you see bums drinking so much.

because being a drunk isn't stressful. Doctors are always working, always trying to help people, to save lives, improve their health, etc.
Alcoholism is a selfish condition--you just worry about feeling good yourself, and most likely feel mellower when you are drunk, so you don't care that you're getting cirrosis of the liver and dissolving their brain cellsand other physical ailments. So when doctors are worn out and die earlier, drunks just keep on drinking their brains away.

Drs are around sick people all the time, so it wreaks havoc with their immune system. And old drunks only appear to be that old because the alcohol has wreaked hovac with their nervous system.
