I am very proud of my ancestors, they worked in the underground railroad to help people like your forefathers lead a better life. And had it not been for the fact that some of them got busted, I would be living in America right now.
Yes there have been those that have mistreated other nationalities, but realize this. There are bad apples in every group, but there have always been good apples too. Don't paint everyone with the same brush. There may be people that still do that these days, but don't fall into that mind set.

I assure you that if you bring up my forefathers (or, for that matter, my fore-mothers) of 5000 years ago, I will not be afraid, ashamed or "something."
I am responsible for what I do, not for what some very distantly-related people might have done.
By the way, although I'm not Catholic, your saying that Catholics are "afraid of common sense" was insulting.
Maybe you'd better worry about YOUR behaviour, today instead of concerning yourself about some things some people did or did not do in the past.

Don't assume that every white person you meet has a great-great-grandpap that owned slaves. I for one am only third generation Croation, my ancestors weren't even in America during that time and they certainly didn't own slaves! Just like not every black person comes from Africa, I have a black friend who gets really pissed off at being called "African-American" when her roots are really from the West Indies. And if you feel like they should just move on why are you bringing it up to begin with?

Seems rather like a race issue not a books issue. I am white, I cannot help that fact. No one can help what they are. I am sick of people of other races wanting me to be sorry for the sins of people I have never met and are not even from my lifetime. I am white, get over it.

duh what do you want out of me, all i know is what i learned. i am very open to the truth but i want it to be the real truth not something someone decides is the truth. the future will make all these things clear. all i know is my people followed the buzzards so they could scavenge food. nothing there to brag about but common sense and survival. but if you feel the need to be the big kahuna go for it.
