Totally agree with the others who are saying no movie on a first date is the way to go. You'll learn nothing about this guy other than he can sit still for 2 hours, completely bored out of his mind watching a crappy love story! Do something fun and silly - talk - get to know each other a little bit.

If the two of you have already been physical, it's ok.
If you haven't yet and it is your first date your better off doing something fun but also having some time to talk and get to know eachother.

Romantic movies are emotionally charged, emotionally charged atmospheres can be uncomfortable around someone your not comfortable with yet(or someone you have sexual tension with). If you're willing to jump him at some point in the movie then watch a romantic one.

I would see a scary one, you can have an excuse to hold his hand or find refuge in his arms from the big scary stuff. You can also find out if he's a wuss. You don't want a wuss.

First dates should be fun and short.

"The last kiss" isn't in our cinema's yet (the Netherlands), but since I'm a fan of Blythe Danner I've been reading all the reviews since it's release. (there were many already, and new ones still come in every hour)

It's released as a "romantic comedy", but as far as I can tell the film is not really romantic, nor comic....certain scenes excepted of course. Most of the critics called it a "drama", or "dramady", and given the script I think I have to agree with them.

Why not go to a more light-hearted film, a real romantic one?

I would feel awkward if a guy took me to a romantic movie on the first date. I'd prefer a good comedy or even drama or action. I saw "Jurassic Park 2" with a first date and he kept trying to make me jump through the whole movie, like he was trying to scare me or something! It was funny...

You really should save going to the movies for a later date. Personally I would not want anyone talking to me during the show because it takes away from the whole purpose. First dates are for getting to know a person which requires conversation. Try dinner and a walk.

Guys usually don't like this, but as long as you do the movie and like dinner then it's all good. Horror movie, romantic movie, etc.. It doesn't matter, it'll work out if it's meant to.

Good luck and have fun!
