I have two achievers and over the last two years, I have had to teach them because the schools could not accomodate them due to lack of funding. Prior to that, I had to pay private school tuition. I finally got my seventh grader into a public school and he gets transportation between middle and high school. I am a single parent and I have five years of backlogged taxes to deal with. It is a nightmare.
I think more resources go to special needs children. They get an IEP. But, I have noticed that their needs aren't exactly met either.

It's called equal opportunity. Look into it you ignorant a$$hole! It's wrong that people like you think that learners with special needs don't have a right to get a good education. The only thing you can do is deal with it.
Diana p, you're a dumb b!tch. What did people with special needs ever do to you? They have the right to the same opportunities that everyone else has. What's the matter with that? Besides, "low achievers" actually have more sense than "high achievers" and "over achievers" anyhow.

You say we are letting them, how can we not, since when have parents actually had any right to effect change, it just doesn't happen. I am severely disappointed with the so called support that my son has received, including the meeting i had at his previous school where the decision to send him there was questioned and i was informed that that decision had held back the entire language unit. The problem is funding of course, my son requires 1 to 1, the axillary staff was supposed to be provided but then funding fell through, so now I've had to resort to sending him to a special needs school where he is clearly outclassing the other children because he has problems with speech and behaviour rather than severe learning difficulties. However it was the only option available to me and now i have to put up with worse learn-ed behaviour and him coming home with bite marks every other day

Colleges, are not a branch of social services. If you can't hack it on your own when you have left school, how are you going to make it in the world of work? Maybe they will expect special assistance in the workplace as well. IT ALL COSTS MONEY.

there is nothing wrong with that, there is only a finite amount of resources to use, why waste them on people who dont appreciate it and wont be able to make use of them. some people just arent going to go to college, and perhaps some people just shouldnt, the world needs ditch diggers too, and state workers make good money, let them do that.

All schools & colleges have there own agenda.
You must also run a school or college then you will know how the pressure comes on your agenda.
We have no choice.
If beggers had choice they would ride on horses, they say.

I suppose it depends on which school district you're in, but where I'm at, they really do accomodate kids with special needs.
