How did you get the check? If it came from Africa most commonly Nigeria it is a forgery. If you have not sent any money please do not. It is a huge scam that surprisingly not enough Americans know about. For some reason it is not broadcast on any prime time news. Most target emails with wanting some type of help due to a tragedy or something and in exchange you get some money for helping them but you have to give them money first, it is a scam. They mostly use free email so watch out for your email, if it sounds too good too be true it usually is. Do a search for 419 Eater they bait and catch some scammers and report them. They do have some information on how to spot a 419 scammer (419 referrs to the law in Nigeria).
They also search autotrader and the like and want to give more for the automobile for say shipping expenses but have you send out a money order to the shipper, etc. Always call your bank and make sure the mo clears before you send someone money on behalf of it.

I didn't think a legitimate Cashier's Check could be a bad check. I thought it was guaranteed by the place that issued it. No??
