i am flying to bamako in november, and thought it would be easier to get the visa when i arrive as there is no embassy in the UK. is that possible?

you need to send your passport to the embassy in France NOW! you may be able to get a visa there but it's a lengthy process and you can't count on it. If I were you I would go a few days early to Paris and get it done there rather than post off your passport. It's not an easy place to get to!!!!! I was going to go in decembe rlast year but my travelling partner bailed out due to the difficulty of getting there!!! Enjoy your trip but do get on this now cos it could tak a while!!!!!

No, that is not possible. When you get a visa, it is inserted into your passport. If you arrive at the airport and show your passport, without a visa already inside it, you will be deported. You should contact the nearest embassy to you (even if it is not in the UK) and arrange for the visa.

You won't be able to get on the plane without a passport. So, NO, it's not possible.

ofcourse you wont, visit your uk embassy in uk or your local councilor and theyll sort it.
