You want to be different, but treated as normal. On the one hand, what does sexual preference or orientation (assuming the setting of the question) have anything to do with the normal parts of our lives? How does your preference in copulative partners affect your buying gas for the car, groceries, furniture, etc.? You come in contact with people every day and it has zero to do with your sexuality. If you go to a local ball game, can't you watch and cheer for the home team without this issue coming up? Can't you go to a restaurant or even out for a beer without bringing that baggage into play? No wonder you are lonely.

You will need to move. You may not be safe in a small town. I would move to a large city even if one is not nearby move where you will be able to get a job in your skill set.

It will be hard for you to stay there and be happy. Im sorry to say but its true. You need to find somewhere they wont look down on you. Sorry i live in a small town just like that and people are cruel

Do yourself a favor, move to a large (or at least medium size) city. You can be yourself without all the small town prying eyes and judgmental attitudes.
