Under my ribs hurt, probably from stretching (I'm having twins) and my back really is starting to kill me too. Middle back, not lower yet. Heating pad kinda works, can't fit in a bath tub anymore, my tummy isn't covered. Icyhot doesn't work anymore or Bengay. After being up and moving around for more than three hours, I hurt really bad and have to lay down. But it hurts to lay on my back, or either side for longer than 15 minutes. I have to function, at school and work. Any ideas?

Treat yourself to an occasional massage...especially if you can find a massage therapist with specialty training in pregnancy. Not only can she help with your current aches and pains, she can help make your labor easier too.

Have a great baby!

Try taking tylenol during the day (tylenol is perfectly safe during pregnancy) and try to get to a pool after work and school. Trust me, it may sound like a hassle and a totally out of the way idea, but after the first 1-2 times, you will definatly MAKE the time to get there, it seriously is a miracle. That was the one and only thing that worked for me. I even had a fractured tailbone the last 4 months of my pregnancy.

I would not be sitting in hard chairs. I would invest in a birth ball (exercise ball) to sit on at work and when you are watching tv. You can also put a pillow on the floor to keep your knees comfortable while you lean forward over your birth ball. It is a good resting position that keeps the pressure off. Many pregnant women that I know use these balls regularly to sit on late in pregnancy. You can sit and rock on it or sway. It is so much nicer on your back. Good luck to you and your sweet babies.

Sleep on your side with your legs slightly bent, put a pillow between your legs. I had a triangle shaped pillow that I used under my belly and then if need be, put a pillow behind your back. Good luck, Chiropractor could help too.

There is a product out there called biofreeze, its a gel you apply to soar muscles, it cools as soon as it hits your skin. I don't know if it works in pregnency (I don't even know if its safe) but it helps with my back pain.
