When i first went to a golden corral you could order from a selection of different steaks and it came w/ a baked potato. Plus you could also get the buffet for a little more.Now they offer only one type steak ,usually tough at the buffet,why couldn't they leave it the way it was?

The steaks were changed from horse meat to dog meat to save money.

They were losing too much money. If you go to a buffet, wouldn't you take the best steak if it was all the same price? I'm sure everybody else was doing that too. The most expensive item was being eaten the most and they were losing out with the rest of the food. It's all business.
I know...I miss it too. Can't eat the chewy tough steaks they actually offer any more. Although they closed every Golden Corral anywhere near us now. We can't find it anymore.
That's okay. It's not that good anyways; comparitively speaking.

Golden Corral here has always been "buffet only", but they have a variety of meats on the buffet. It wasn't like Ponderosa, where you could order an entree plus buffet. GC here has always been like that.

If people stop buying those steaks then why have it? So charge a little more give away steaks at the bar then make more money. Seems about right to me.

Its all about the bottom line. They were not making the profit margin desired with the previous scenario so now they changed to something they think can provide them with a consistent profit margin.
