I am 43, 5'11, 265lbs my heart rate is usually around 80 resting. I take a beta blocker for an irregular heart beat. Should I be concerned about the low heart rate

Yes , you should.
Normal rest pulse rate is 72 beats per minute, if this dwindles below 65,then you need to get serious.56 is low and cuz of yr weight and chest pain ,it underlines an underlaying cardiac dysfunction,like acute arrythmic beats etc, so do consult a cardiologist at the earliest.Dont really take in yahoo answers alone, your health is at question here.

Yes. Any change in your heartbeat with new medication has the potential for being dangerous. Call the hospital and take to someone in the Emergancy department or call a pharmacist and ask. Do what they tell you. If you worry, you can upset your rate even more. Whatever you do, contact someone who knows what you should do professionally. Good luck.
