'IF' you were to discover, based on hardcore proof (remember, this is a hypothetical question!), that your religious beliefs were based on lies and there was no such thing as a god to worship and realized that we as individuals are responsible for our actions and no matter how much you fought this information and there was no denying it, how would you feel or react? I know, some would find this question a slap in the face but I am just looking for true and honest answers. Not, "How dare you deny God!" or "You are a lost soul!" Tell me how you honestly would feel.

LOL...just as I expected. Defensiveness. Oh well, I tried! Goes to show you know one can actually ask themselves this question without getting defensive. Thanks anyway! :-)

"I knew it all along that religion was made to control people."
I don't belong to any religion.

I think what you don't understand is I can not give you the answer you want because that would mean I acknowledge there is even a possibility that God is not real which shows wavering in my faith. I believe in God, I know everything I have prayed for I have received, it may not have been when or how I wanted it but he has never failed me. I can not believe anything else because of what I have seen with my own eyes, relenting it may not be true would be like believing maybe everything I have seen I really have never saw maybe I m even blind! I would be calling myself a liar because I know that isn't true . Do you understand. You have to form your own opinions all I know is the life I have led and I cant tell you God has been a very present help!

I have that same philosophy as a Christian. I am responsible for me and my actions. God gives me a freewill. Just because I am a Christian does not give me carte blanche to do whatever I choose because God will forgive me. I believe there is a judgment day and we all will face the wrongs we have done so you better be living right every moment now unless you want a terrible experience on that day.

If there was nothing else and no higher consciousness, I would feel really sad. No one would then need to be responsible or need feel guilt for anything. Law would only be something that held you accountable if you got caught. Killing would be OK if you could get away with it. That percentage of the population with morals would eventually be wiped out or under control of the ruthless due to survival of the fittest. So, so sad.

This happened to me. I found out that all the guilt-ridden propaganda that I was fed all my life from the Catholic Church was a bunch of baseless hogwash. I felt betrayed and brainwashed and moved on with my life. It's so much easier to live without the guilt of everything you do making you a "sinner" who is headed straight to hell!

Hope you were wearing your fame suit when you posted this!

I am sure that most of your answers will be as you stated at the end of your question, if they chose to answer at all.

Of course, I do believe that we are responsible for our actions, but I am Wiccan, not Christian.
