What ever happened to all the food distributions, the red cross contributions , the medicine contributions.....It is like how people who live off the government funding here (the ones that are in true need of it, not the addicted ones), suddenly forget the good thats done...reminds me of when I was little, All week you do so well then you make one slip up and boom the rest is forgotten....Chavez so easily slams the US when the US has been their to help when they've had mother nature disasters and needed relief...but you know, I think we should stop being humane and let them realize what they had.....like my parents did to punish me, take it away for a bit and let them realize whats gone......your view?

Can you imagine a person having a very very rich uncle. When he needs something, he complains to the rich uncle who will always give the guy what he needs.
Year after year the rich uncle dribbles out cash. But Mr.Moocher doesn't understand why Uncle Moneybags doesn't give him a pile of money so that he could live the like of Riley without having to ever think of money again.
After a while Moocher builds up a dislike for the uncle that eventually turns into hatred. In his mind he feels indebted for all the handouts, and hatred because the uncle doesn't give him more.
This is the way with nations. So many know that they were kept from starving at the end of World War Two. They know how much they owe Uncle Sam, but human nature makes them hate the one they owe so much to.
Just about every country in the world wouldn't give America a kind word after all that they got from us. But whenever trouble popps up they always look at the rich uncle for more handouts.

Yes, I admit that the US has done some pretty dumb stuff sometimes, but yes, we've also made positive contributions as well. I think that a lot of the time, people tend to think of only the negative things... It's a lot easier to focus and dwell on negative things than on positive things. Not many people sit in their rooms and think, "Yes. An A+..." for hours. More people will tend to focus on negativity; since it feels harsher, it tends to draw our attention to it.
I don't necessarily think anything should be taken away. You don't want to fight fire with fire. Plus, who knows. Then all hell might break loose. I think it's best to just stand for what we believe in, and, when the opportunity arises, to help others as much as we can. The world is still filled with negativity, and I think refusing to help others, even for a brief period, would only increase that.

There is an old saying in the Army "One 'oh sh1t' erases 10 'atta boys.'" In the case of the current junta the 'oh sh1ts' have begun to exceed the 'atta boys' by a wide margin.
It's really to bad that we don't learn history (other than the myths we teach in grade school) then you mind learn a little of the history of US involvement in Latin America. Over the years we've given them very few reasons to love us.
And it's funny you and Chavez agree on something; you both want the US out of Latin America.

We should go back to being isolationist.
Unlike pre-wwII, we could easily do it this time.
Unlike then, we have the resources & economy to do so.
We dont really need the rest of the world anyway.
We should litterally do a 'democracies only' version of the U.N. and forget everybody else.

That's the way it has always been. Yankee go home, but leave your dollars. We should have scrapped the Marshall Plan and left Europe to sit in the rubble.
Its time the US steps down from its self appointed role as world policeman and guardian and start to take care of domestic issues.

Yep. I was amazed that the US was still providing $$ to the Palestinians after all the crap they put us through. Probably similar logic to why we complain about tobacco companies but still subsidize tobacco farmers.

The good stuff you do tends to get forgotten when you invade other countries and preside over the deaths of tens of thousands, possibly hundreds of thousands of people.
Imagine that.
