I ask this because I just read on the offical Social Secirity site that 3 out of 10 people who are working today, will become disabled before the age of retirement. Do you have a plan and of so what is it?
http://www.ssa.gov the url is too long to post here for the exact page but you can use the search function on the site to view this alarming statistic.

You can actually request an earnings statement from Social Security to show how much you have paid in to date, and how much you monthly benefit will be when you retire or become disabled. I highly recommend looking into this when you have time as it might surprise you.

But honestly guys my intention here is just to see how many people have even considered a very real possibility. I don't quite think planning on welfare to catch you is the answer. Take a look at how much welfare is available right now in your state.

Today, MOST people...regardless of income level...live paycheck-to-paycheck with next to no savings and deeply in debt. Most people assume that they will be covered somehow by some governmental agency...you only have to look at what happened after Katrina to see what you can REALLY expect from these agencies. This is not to knock them...it's just a fact of life...there is no way to return people to their former way of life after these events. If they do, they should count themselves lucky! We should expect that someone ELSE will take care of us, regardless of why or how it happened.
