Do what you want to do with your life...

if you love your job, you'll never work a day in your life...

As for being worried about stepping out on your own if your dad boots you... wouldn't you rather your parents hate you for who you are than love you for who your not... explain it to him...

you can pick your nose,
you can pick your butt,
but you can't pick your family.

A lot of people change their majors while in college. Even if you already have your degree and you find its not what you had in mind, you can still make it work for you. For example, with a BA or BS in almost any subject, you can go for a teaching credential and teach. My cousin studied law, passed the bar exam, but by then was so disgusted with lawyers altogether, she decided to work for a non-profit group and help battered and abused women and children. No matter what your major, you aren't limited to just that field. As they say, think outside the box.

go ahead and work in that major for now it will be better than working at some minimum wage job, mean while you can tell your parent s you decided to further your education and just switch major, it wont take too much time depending on what you want since you aredone with general ed and most likely you got tons of credit to transfer all you have to do is take classsed to pursue your second major, it will take about a year or two, dont weat it, it will make your parents proud and give you satisfaction that you dont only have one major but two!! youll be fine.

i think i can understand with what you are going through though for me i didn't take a wrong major. i just lost interest in what i'm learning and doing like 1 semester before my scheduled graduation. so what i did was i took a gap year in the middle of my studies. i went back home (was an international student) to figure out what i wanted to.

i did figure out what i wanted during my break. went back to uni to complete my degree. i am too near to the end and didnt want to waste my past effort. i am an engineering major. after i complete my degree this year, i want to teach. so gonna be getting my teaching credentials after this.

for me i see my degree as a fall back plan. there's a couple of jobs out there that don't require a specific degree. they just want you be be matured and equip with abit of life experience.

for your case, how far are you into your degree. if you are in the first year, you can still change your major. 1st year courses are mostly fundamentals and are usually pretty much the same within each faculty. you just might need to take 1 or 2 courses to compensate. talk to your student advisor for they will be able to help you better in this area. if you are currently in my situation, i suggest you to just finish it up. don't waste your parents' money and you own effort. after that figure out what you want to do for the rest of your life. believe it or not, alot of people do find themselves in such situation.

i don't think your parents will kick you out over this matter. after all you are their daughter. in case such situation occurs, there are a lot of scholarship that you could apply to.

i wish you the best of luck.

I wanted to major in Business Administration but instead i took accounting. Got my BS in accounting and my Masters in Bus. Admin.

If you have been taken classes in this major for at least two years i'd say stick to it and minor in somthing else or vice versa. Talk to you guidance counselor or dean they can advise you of your choices.
