I got Limewire and my computer seems to be slowed down and acting funny. Should I just delete it and repair the damage? What can I do to fix my computer?

LimeWire itself probably will not, but the things you download from LimeWire can if you're not careful. Check for spyware and viruses:

Computers always run slower when downloading. I use limewire all the time, but never download videos. Most carry viruses. What I do is install it when I am in the mood to make a cd and uninstall it right after. I have done this about 5+ times now. I just made a new one about 2 days ago with nothing but my favorite songs from this group I listen to. Greatest hits albums just don't cut it. I usually just buy my music from the store, but I like to make old school cds. And limewire is perfect for that. You should do a scan of your comp to see if you have any viruses before jumping to conclusions. Because like I said, downloading always makes computers run slower. The more you download at a time, the slower your computer runs.

I put a link to a good spyware program. But once again, you have to download it to make it work. Free 30 day trial. I personally don't use this. I paid for xoft. But this is one of the best I have come accross so far.

Did you review the system requirements of Limewire BEFORE you installed it?

Check these against your computer configuration (capacity).

Limewire DOES use up a lot of your RAM especially when opening.

You may need to upgrade your system first.

Limewire will not screw up your computer, only the questionable content you download it with will. Its best to have a antivirus software handy to solve virus problems.

It depends what you download. BE safe and get a anti virus device and make sure you get rid of your songs once you are done with them. Always transfer them on a cd if you have to. It it starts running slow you may have a virus. Also when you finish downloading it check the file before playing it. If it seems like the file is not big enough delete it, it probably isnt.

limewire itself will not ruin ur computer...just the "extra software" that downloads with limewire that causes the slow down.

Limewire permits you to acquire track and different files illegally. Any software that permits this will be risky to apply in that you're liable to viruses besides as proceedings and criminal prosecution. in case you opt to be confident you've probability-free downloads, you should stay with legal resources, and meaning procuring them instead of stealing them.

Uninstall Limewire if it is slowing it down. Then defragment and scandisk your hard drive to speed it up or add more memory.

make sure you have adware defence's and virus blockers too otherwise you will get a BAD virus and then the computer may crash, clean it up right away. As long as you have the right defences all should be ok. goodlcuk
