"Citadins" ou "classe moyenne"
However, citadins simply stands for people living in towns (whatever their wealth is) whereas "classe moyenne" emphasises the social level (particularly income which is decent in this case), so it is not exactly the same concept.

The word "bourgeois" is a little old-fashioned and sounds a bit pejorative nowadays. This term refers more to quite wealthy people of the 18th - 19th century. In the context of the French revolution, the "bourgeois" (bourgeoisie is the social "class") were between the nobles and the poor.
