Yes, it if can be done smoothly. I don't think one should go way out of his way to do so. But it does cross my mind each time I see the opportunity arise.

Yes if he is there first. When I am at the door first the I open it for the man. Some men can't understand that it is a courtesy whomever is there at the door first.

When a man is trying to impress a young lady, he will open a door for her. After they are married, he quits opening the door for her :)
Its just one of the facts of life...
Of course, we wont begin to remember what women used to do for men, before they were married too, eh?

I think whoever is at a door first should hold it open for whomever is following. And the person who follows should always say thank you. I don't think it has to be the guy who holds the door.

Yes, I do, I think chivalry is even more important than just the relation between gender. It is a good part of what holds our society together. Without it we may as well return to living in caves.

No, but being nice to stranger is something worth doing. So opening a door for someone else is a positive character trait in my book.

Yes, I like it when my Husband open's the door for me it makes me feel speical and it show's me that he care enough to do it. Good question.
