my partner has just gone through her first Ectopic Pregnancy the baby grew in her tubes and attactched itself to the ovary. she was complaining of severe pain for over a month before the hospital realised there was any thing wrong and by this time the pregnancy had gone that far gone that she had to have her ovary and tube removed. she would like to know if her cervix would have been open or closed during the pregnancy as she needs the information to make a complaint against the hospital for not beleiving her sooner when she said there was something wrong. she was also bleeding throughout the whole pregnancy.

It would have been closed.

Although closed, they should have monitored the pesistant bleeding and realised there was a problem.

Sorry about the grief you must be feeling, I hope you sucessfully have a child in the future.

First of all she should have been under the care of a physician preferably an obstetrician who would have monitored this closely. If she only made vague trips through the ER then you don't have much to go on. Loss of the fallopian tubes and even ovaries is a common result of an ectopic pregnancy. The cervix would have been closed since it doesn't "open" until delivery and I'm not sure what that has to do with the ectopic. I think you might as well give it up. If she still has a healthy tube and ovary remaing she will still conceive.

Cervix probably closed with what you describe, but hey - I wasn't there - I did not examine.

Is there an ultrasound or a documented doctor's examination?
