I will never forget this, I was in first grade eating lunch on the playground (we always ate lunch outside). I looked down at my food for just a moment, and when I looked back up, EVERYONE WAS GONE!! Where there had been kids at every picnic table, everyone was gone, except for a little boy sitting at another table across the playground. He gave me a bewildered look as if he was wondering where everyone went to. I remember being worried that I would get trouble for not being in class, but I got up and walked into class and no one said anything and I never said anything either. This is the strangest thing that has ever happened to me and I have no explanation for it, but I will never forget it.

Wow! you lucky sod
That is so cool!
I believe it's called time shift, if i remember right.
Basically what happens is that what we call time isn't actually real in the true sense of the word. It's just the name we give to the sensation of being in a particular place at a particular moment. What happened to you is for a few, very brief moments, you experienced the world as it truly is.
So to all in tense and purposes time for you stopped.
It's rare but not unheard of, consider yourself fortunate to have experienced it.
It's nothing to do with ghosts or aliens, it's just basic physics

Please try to look at it as new experience, it is not really strange, though it appears to be so !
When you "happen" to step out of 'time' unawares, you are perfectly in awareness, and yet time slips by.... The lunch time was over and everybody left to their respective classes. What seemed like just a moment for you may be the the rest of the lunch time.
To make this happen, people on spiritual path work with great single minded dedication, for perhaps many years !
Since it happened to you a bit unawares, or without your conscious effort, you could neither make anything out of it nor even try it anytime. ONE MORE THING, should have happened that day, the sleep must have come to you a bit late, or at least you would have noticed less of fatigue or extra freshness, vigour, lightness, for the rest of the day.
Even when it happens unawares, the benefits are immense.

You temporarily must have blacked out. Maybe fainted and didnt realise? That is the logical conclusion. However, it does appear that you and this little boy felt the same emotion at this point so maybe you and he were inexplicably "linked" somehow to each other for some reason? I know this is playing on your mind even now, but i would only worry if it ever happens again. If it does see a doctor esp if you drive a car as if it was a blackout you need to be aware of this.

Hi!
Probably the reason why you will never forget it is that it was your first true experienece of being alone, and that can leave an imprint on a child. The fact that no-one told you or stayed with you except from that little boy probably also gave you your first experience of being with someone in the same position as you.
I hope this helps!

Well u must have been day dreaming then... thats y u didnt realise other kids leaving the premises after the bell rang..it often happens that we feel only a second or minute has lapsed but soon we wake up to a surprize that hours have lost in our day dreaming.its just that our mind gets trapped in a particular thing thats makes us busy and unaware of outer situations.u must have been in the same..

You either lost time from blacking out or were daydreaming, likely. Easy to happen. I'm always surrounded by "vanishing people". People will be right beside me and I'll turn around and they're just gone. People move fast and my mind is too busy to notice, apparently.

sounds just like you were day dreaming and lost track of time. As a child, it would be quite frightening, and you also made a decision by yoursel (to go inside) which was the most sensible thing to do, instead of just bursting into tears.

it's difficult to explain this you may had been thinking about something that much that you didn't notice that everyone had gone...
