As everyone else has said :-
1/ Boiling hot water first
2 / Baking soda all over the terminals 10 minutes later
3/ More boiling hot water 24 Hrs later
Terminals should be free to remove after that !

Like NIght Rang said , you want to clean all the corrosion of 1st off, but that does not stop there - you will have to purchase a battery clearner / conditioner after the cleaning you will spary this on - you can buy this at any car store or wal-mart traget and so forth.
If you are good at repairs on your own vehicle you can purchase the Battery waffers as I call them - you will have to remove the battery cables after you clean the area of - USE GLOVES please 8), Clean the inside of the terminals out as well once you have them off with a Battery post tool - they cost like 5 - 10 dollars get it helps make job easier. Place the ( green and red ) waffers on the correct terminals . install the cables and tighten them down NOT to tight just enough where the cable does not move. Over tight cables are just as bad.
MAKE SURE YOUR vehicle does not have a RADIO CODE reset - you will need to re-enter the code to it once you remove the battery cables.
Good Luck.

Get you a can of coca-cola pur half the can on each battery post the next day there will be no more corrosion. THe acid in the coke eats the corrosion off.

Battery corrosion can be dangerous. If the its on the cables themselves I would take it to a mechanic and have the cables replaced because when you clean off the corrosion on the cables your leaving space for more corrosion.

I bought some spray from the local auto store and just sprayed it over the battery terminals and the plugs. There are also anti-corrosion rings you buy that go on the terminals themselves. Much easier than scrubbing.
