How am I suppose to meet new people? After the introduction, what is there to talk about? I need help. I always been very shy and outgoing (like going out to places with my friends and chatting with friend's friend) but I can never talk to anyone new in class. Can anyone help decipher my puzzle? Thanks. I want to meet new people.

Hmmm… being shy isn’t a curse and in fact it can work for you quite nicely! Treat your shyness as being ordinary and or normal and let it become an endearing trait.

You mentioned “in class” so I am assuming you’re in school. Obviously one place to meet new people/friends and if you’ve already changed your attitude towards your shyness then you’re one step closer to forming friendships with the new people you meet.

Almost anywhere or everywhere you are is a place to meet someone that could turn into a honest to goodness friendship. Many of the people we come into contact with and or call friends are really only acquaintances’ by definition. Before I get off the subject here, if you’re in laundry mat, grocery store, library, bus stop, church, gas station, mall, tanning salon, MicekyD’s, a club, the gym, out with friends… etc… etc you’re where you can meet, become acquainted, and even have a true friendship form IF you’re willing to smile and carry an open mind and all while allowing your shyness work with you instead of against you!

Good luck~

Do a few of these things and you'll have new friends.

If shy then joining a speech/debate or toastmasters class can be helpful. Learn the art of conversation (from initiating to holding an interesting one), this requires practice and knowledge.

To meet potential friends be active, it's easier if you make a list of your interests then join clubs/committees/ groups where others share your passion and are willing to discuss those activities with you. Dress appropriately, be sure to smile and laugh, hold eye-contact and nod approvingly when they're speaking (makes them feel good that you're paying attention).

To maintain the new relationships keep in touch by phone, emails or in person. Suggest fun activities because having friends means sharing and doing things. Don't be a complainer or whiner instead be positive. To stay friends with these people you need to be loyal and trustworthy. Learn new things, stay current with up-to-date topics. When conversing with your new friends contribute your intelligent opinions and they'll value you.

I've been like you always.
i think the best way to start is to say hi.
ask ur friend to introduce you to his/her friend.
i think it will be easier after that.
